Radke Takes “Running for Office” to a New Level

August 24, 2010

(Kaneohe, HI) Mo Radke, Republican candidate for Hawaii House District 48 (Kaneohe), brings a new and ironically literal meaning to the phrase “running for office” by introducing “sign running” to the political landscape. Unlike the familiar candidate practice of “sign waving” where candidates and supporters stand on a busy street corner waving to drivers, “sign-running” takes the political signs on a run.

“I am a firm believer in finding better, more efficient ways to do things,” said Radke. “Why stand when you can move?”

Radke, a political newcomer, is a first-time candidate for public office. He is a retired Navy Command Master Chief who is currently a PGA Class A Professional and an instructor at the Kaneohe Marine Corps base who enjoys training for marathons with his wife.

“That’s how we got the idea for sign running,” said Radke’s wife, Jill. “With work and campaigning we needed to find new, creative ways to do things. Spending time with great people doing something we love to do made the idea a reality.”

For their inaugural sign running, the “Go with Mo” sign wavers included stalwart friends, supporters and joggers Tatiana Delgadillo, Loren Aquino, Ruby Aquino, Billie Yugawa, Jill Radke, Belinda Barnes and Owen Lee.

“The people are what this campaign is all about. I feel so fortunate to have great people with me on the run, a beautiful backdrop of the Koolaus and a great community to connect with along the way. The positive support by those we see really brightens our day and our run,” said Radke.
