Gabby 'Pop" Pahinui

Great time at the Waimanalo Beach Park last Saturday for the Gabby Pahinui Music Festival.  Our group, from kumu Cyril Pahinui's Bishop Museum students played 4 songs and did a great job.  Cyril sat in with us which made our sound even that much more rich.

Ever since learning slack key and especially the Pahinui Family special open C tuning, I have a closer connection to the land where I live and the history that's so important to music and other culture.  To me, slack key is like the…

Stretching the Bones

Well it's July 2011.  One year ago, I thought I could help improve our state by trying to spend less and put more power into the hands of the people and helping them with their voice. I ran a very simple campaign for the state legislature representing Kaneohe. I lost soundly because my district doesn't want to change.  They are happy with the status quo . . .at least the older voters are.  The next generation(s) are ready for Kaneohe to step into the 21st Century but not at the expense of…

A great day with great people

Finished a great day of walking the district and sharing national GOP chairman MIchael Steele with one hundred or so of my closest friends. Me, Jill and Tatiana went as a team and had a great time being energized by some great candidates which included Congressman Djou, Reps Ward and Ching, LtGov Duke Aiona. Chairman Steele was especially interested in Tatiana's interest at such a young age. She's quite the impressive young lady and a great volunteer.…

Radke Takes “Running for Office” to a New Level

August 24, 2010

(Kaneohe, HI) Mo Radke, Republican candidate for Hawaii House District 48 (Kaneohe), brings a new and ironically literal meaning to the phrase “running for office” by introducing “sign running” to the political landscape. Unlike the familiar candidate practice of “sign waving” where candidates and supporters stand on a busy…

Hawaii Family Forum Issues

by Mo Radke

The Hawaii Family Forum and the Hawaii Catholic Conference published their survey of candidates last week.

Rarely are tough issues tackled by yes/no/undecided answers, which are the only ones you can see on the survey because of space limitations. So, I'd like to take a little time to tell you how I answered their questions and why.…

I have the best campaign manager!

A smooth mix of saavy, technical knowhow, issues, and planning, my manager has got this train on track. I think Jill is going to need some help though. Someone to audit my books, campaign volunteers, t-shirt wearers and sign wavers, Oh, and we are starting a group called "Radke's Runners". I give you the running shirt, and all you have to do is show up for a group run, wear it, and get some exercise! Perfect way to knock out two items with one attempt.

Why We are Losing Trust in Our Government

When lawmakers do things like make someone turn off a video recorder in a public forum, it makes us suspicious. For example, last week the House Finance Committee held a "public forum" (read the Midweek announcement here) where, as this video shows,
Representative Jessica Wooley (House District 47) approached a person video… Continue
